What Is Ilmenite?

Ilmenite is a black to grayish-black mineral, primarily composed of iron oxide (FeO) and titanium dioxide (TiO₂). It is the most common source of industrial titanium. Ilmenite often occurs alongside magnetite or hematite, with weak magnetic properties.
